Bot Access

» Main Ops Bot: StealthBot v2.6 Revision 3 by Stealth and Neglected Fury # 5.1 | By Fleet-.
"Bot Access is a privilege, and not something used to be randomly given to members; you will have to earn it. Only Generals, Officers and Warrant Officers will have guaranteed access on bots. Enlisteds may have access on bots only if given permission by a Brigadier General or higher.

The two bot triggers are ` and . and are reserved for ops bots only, any other bots in the channel using those same triggers are to be banned from the channel. A 3rd (third) or more ops bot is allowed in the channel, but it does not necessarily need to have the same triggers mentioned above, and so it must be changed to any of the following triggers: - * or \.

ALL other bots in the channel must be controllable by Generals. In other words, you must add the Generals staff to the extent where they are able to self-remove your bot if necessary, or we will resolve into banning it. You will be given a first warning, and if the nature of the problem is not yet solved, your bot will be permanently banned from the channel.

Access Guidelines Below:
Generals: ASL flags and 100 access.
Officers: S flag and 70 access.
Warrant Officers: S flag and 60 access.
Enlisted: S flag and no access unless given by a General.

Note: ONLY Accounts listed in "Access Accounts" may be added to ops bots.
DO NOT kick nor ban anyone without a reason, if you do, you are risking your access privilege.

Flags and Access Reference:

Flag A: Admin Admins have full access to all the bot's commands. The 'A' flag is equivalent to having access 100.
Flag S: Safelisted Users with flags of 'S' are considered part of the Safelist.

Flag L: Locked The access and flags of users with 'L' as part of their flags cannot be modified except by someone with 'A' flags or 100+ access. This effectively "locks" the user's access so that those with less than master-access cannot modify it.

Squads Information
Here are a few rules.
1) Only a Captain or higher can create/run a squad.
2) Only Generals are allowed to create squads on the site. So If you are not a general and want to make a squad, you might want to ask a general for approval so he can make it for you.
3) Only Generals are allowed to remove squads off the website.
4) Pointless squads will NOT be tolerated. So, if you just going make a squad for the heck of it, DON'T even think about it.
5) Each squad, there must be a purpose for it.

Here is the layout: Each squad will have up to TWO leaders. A Commanding Officer and Executive Officer.

The Commanding Officer is the primary leader of that squad, he/she is fully in charge and be responsible for it. The Executive is the other leader of the squad.

If you are either, the Commanding Officer or Executive Officer- You will receive an addition four more options in your console, and only you will have them.

Add Member | Delete Member | Modify Member | Modify Squad

Add Member - Add members to the squad.
Delete Member - Delete members off your squad.
Modify Member - Modify your member. There is a section for Squad
Rank - If you have different ranking for your squad you can change it on there.
Modify Squad - Here basically you can modify the information about your squad. Including website, leaders, date founded, description.. and etc.

Clan Security Alert
What is Clan Security Alert? What is it is it measures the security alert status level of both our channels, forum, and site. If everything is normal, peaceful then the Clan Security Alert Level would be low. This idea is based of the "homeland security alert." Thanks Darken for pointing it out, that it should be Clan Security Alert Level, not Clan Security Level*

Who is able to to change the clan security alert status?
-All Generals can change the alert as he/she seems necessary to do so.

How many levels are there?
-There are 5 levels, and look below to see each and its descriptions.

Security Alert Level Low Low Level, is when both channels, site and forum are safe and with NO threats from loading, hacking or any other vicious activities. Channels are open to everyone, recruiting is open, forum is open to all public people.
Security Alert Level Guarded Guarded Level, public players are allowed into the channels, and post on forum. But watch out for suspicious people in channels, and if there is some flooding going on. Recruiting is open, but just pay extra attention to the people around you.
Security Alert Level Elevated Elevated Level, both channels are open to public players and forum is open to everyone. But we must be extra careful about people that we don't know. Recruiting is open but be careful who you are recruiting, make sure they are not spies. Take any appropriate actions when someone is doing something suspicious.
Security Alert Level High High Level, is where both channels are open to known (long term public players who are not in the clan but hang out in our channel) public players, members of allied clans, and NOT to total strangers. Everyone should keep an eye in the channel, watch out for spies, and other activities. Ban and kick any public members if necessary, generals should be monitoring the channels and the forums for any suspicious activities. Recruiting is open, but recruit with extreme caution.
Security Alert Level Severe Severe Level, both channels will be closed to public players including members of allied clans. Forum is closed to public members, it includes closing of registration for new accounts, all users must log in before posting. People who are not a member of clan Syndicate Assault will be ban immediately from channel. Recruiting will be closed, and generals should be monitoring site, forum and channels and be ready to take any appropriate actions.

Generals, when changing the clan security alert level PLEASE make sure that what you are changing to is appropriate. If you are unsure ask another general and see what they think.

I would like to thank for Gen. WarAngel[SA] for the idea, and Baiken[SA] for making the new alert images for us.

Leadership FAQs
All generals, officers, and Warrant Officers, please read and understand the information presented below. This will help you understand and become a much better leader.

When thinking about leading a clan or guild you need to ask yourself some basic questions:

Do I have lots and lots of patience?
As a leader you will never be able to make everyone happy. There will possibly be some that think you are doing a bad job and will perhaps loudly proclaim so. A good leader will not attack or fight these people but will instead focus on patiently educating others on why their plan or method is the better choice. At the same time, a leader needs to be humble enough to seriously consider others ideas and input to perhaps find new avenues for improvement.

Do I like to play games?
As a guild leader you will find that you will have huge demands placed on your time that will be at the sacrifice of gaming time. Your organization’s success depends completely on you. Everything that goes wrong ultimately rests on your shoulders, but when things go right are the times you can be proud of. Leading a successful guild or clan is a huge responsibility that can take more time then you can possibly provide. As your group grows you will find that you have less and less time to play games. When you do get a chance to play games you will find that members will want to spend a lot of that time talking to you, making it hard for you to really focus on the game.

Can I work within a Team?
If you want a small organization then it might be best to lead it without the help of other leaders who could bog you down in discussion, disagreement, or their own ambitions. If you want to have a large organization then you will need to seriously consider working with a leadership team, otherwise the workload will become so large that the guild/clan could simply collapse due to you not being able to keep up with everything that needs to be done. A single person trying to do everything is a major cause of leadership burnout and groups tend to be disbanded when their main leader abandons them. When working as part of a leadership team you will find that you will need to share not only the work and responsibility but also the power of decision-making and group guidance. A leadership team can dramatically improve the long-term survivability of your group if the leadership team does not resort to infighting and political maneuvering. The key to a successful leadership team is to carefully build it with people who are mature, dedicated to the group more then personal ambition, willing to selflessly work hard for others, and have a past record of being good leaders.

Do I like People?
As a guild leader you become the focal point of the member’s attention as they come to you with problems, ideas, complaints, brown-nosing, etc. If you are not comfortable with talking with people all the time then you need to reconsider being a leader. To be a good leader you will need to set aside your personal biases, any form of bigotry, rid yourself of stereotypes; be able to hide your fears and annoyances, and to focus completely on serving those who you lead.

How Good am I at Sticking with Things?
The members of your organization depend on you for the ongoing health of your group. They place trust in you that you will keep working at it for as long as they are members. If you abandon them by leaving the group, they will feel like you let them down and broke their trust in you and in your guild/clan. In the past how long have you been able to pursue a hobby, continue playing a game, or maintain membership in a club; 3 months? 1 year? 5 years?

1. The Defining of Positions/Responsibilities
A main group leader could decide to do everything himself but in doing so may find that they are limiting the prosperity of the group by their own abilities and time constraints. Once a position or responsibility is defined it can be turned over to another responsible member of the group thereby allowing more time and resources for other needed tasks. Also once a position is defined it might be good to clearly write it up on a webpage for easy access by those who later are given that position. This could prove an invaluable resource to them as they try to understand exactly what is expected of them.

2. Planned Position Changes
Over time members might grow tired of the positions they hold. In such cases they could either leave the group out of need for change or you could arrange for plan some sort of expected position changing.

3. Recognition and Compensation
Since these positions are purely non-paid ones the only real way to reward members is to recognize them for work they do. This could be done in the form of public thankings, awards, respect, etc. As the primary group leader(s) it really falls upon you to make sure that they are recognized for their service.

4. An Environment of Leadership
Everyone wants to feel needed and important. You can assist members in feeling needed and an important part of the group by giving them chance to fulfill important tasks to fulfill as part of a cohesive leadership team working together for the benefit of the group. These tasks/positions are as important as you build the group culture to think they are. The environment and culture you encourage as a group leader has great affect on members willingness and desire to participate in the group leadership.

5. Leadership Communication Plan
Planning how you are going to regularly communicate with other group leaders is important and planning how you are going to listen to them is even more vital. Is communication going to be done through a dedicated forum? mass email? group ICQ messages? The important thing is that leaders and members communicate constantly on new ideas, problems needing to be dealt with, progress on plans previously made, and so forth.

6. Leadership Training
Provide examples and direction on how to go about performing the things that the member is a leader in. On the Internet this can be effectively done through creating webpages on these subjects....kind of like this webpage. Also members could be moved from simpler leadership positions to more difficult ones as they learn and grow in their abilities.

Clan Information :: A Guide to find a perfect clan
Greetings,
You will find a large number of different guilds/clans to choose from on this forum. Due to the wide variety of different ones available you can be very careful when choosing to make sure that you choose one that will be a positive experience for you.

Some things I would suggest to really consider when comparing guilds and clans for possibly joining are:

1) Does the group have a cool website that enhances the guild/clan community? A website builds group and community identity and stands as a monument to those considering joining the group of the level of devotion that the group leaders have to sustaining and supporting that group. On their website do they sufficiently describe their group rules and gaming objectives for you to know if the group will fit you? A poorly done or lack of a website is a prime indication that a guild/clan does not have devoted leaders leading.

2) Does the group have forums, message boards, and ICQ contact lists that members can use to stay in contact with each other? Does the group have a way that members can get together and just chat such as established group Battle net channel(s), IRC channel(s), or webpage applet chatrooms? Without group sponsored means of communications which are easily accessible it is incredibly hard for group members to bond and build friendships, which means that they will find little reason to stay involved in the group for very long. The friendships that come out of a group can make the associated game much more fun then it would have been otherwise.

3) Does the group have a mature and established guild/clan community that is friendly and helpful to others in it? Communities take time to develop and stabilize into something that members will feel is worthwhile to be involved in.

4) Does the guild/clan offer any activities that make the game more fun (i.e. group quests, tournaments, medals, sub-classes, variants, etc.)? These types of activities can be fun for even the most seasoned player who have accomplished everything and beaten all other challenges in the game. In other words, group sponsored activities such as these can insure that members stay happy and active parts of the group for much longer.

5) Does the group have standards against pk'ing (player killing or unethical backstabbing) and pkk'ing (killing of pk's) thereby insuring that a more friendly and cooperative atmosphere will be inherent in the group community? Pk's and pkk's tend to be a little more focused on themselves and less on the feelings of others, which can make for a group community that is not very supportive or friendly.

6) Is the group built on the gaming ideals of non-cheats thereby helping to make sure that the group is more likely to last longer and those members will not quickly tire of the game and group? Players that cheat rarely last long in groups since the game becomes very boring when there is no challenge left. Group leaders who support cheats tend to be very young and impulsive which often means that such groups do not last long for a variety of associated reasons.

7) Do members of the group have a say in how the group is run or are all decisions made by a single and possibly power hungry group leader? Are there group elections? Is the group run by a republic, a dictatorship, or is it totally democratic in decision-making?

8) How committed are the group leaders to serving the group? How old are they? How long do they plan on keeping the group going? How much time do they spend each week in directly serving the group? Group leaders have a huge affect on a group and its success.

9) Are there enough active members in the group community for there to be others to game with on a regular basis? I have seen many groups claim to have hundreds of members, but in actuality they had only a dozen or less active members, which meant that oftentimes members had to game alone. 10) How secure is the group from attack and troublemakers? Some groups make it a point of their existence to attack and try to destroy other guilds/clans. Are the group sponsored games password protected? If so, how secure are those passwords from mischievous troublemakers? How is it insured that troublemakers do not gain membership to the group? Are the group rules enforced? By what means are they enforced?

11) Does the group role-play? If so, how much is role-playing a part of the group? Are members expected to always converse in old style English? Is the structure of the group setup like a medieval community? Role-playing can add a lot of fun to a group but it also can add a burden upon members in that it requires them to know how to role-play in the way your guild/clan is expecting. This can put a limit on the number of people that would fit into the community but it can also insure that those members have more fun and get more involved in the community who do fit in.

12) How are group leaders chosen? Is it a random first come first leader kind of basis, or are leaders chosen democratically or carefully selected by current leaders based on evident desire to serve others?
